Over 100,000 fans filled Oslo streets Monday, welcoming Norway\’s national team after their historic World Cup campaign.
However, the loss did little to dampen celebrations as supporters gathered in huge numbers across Oslo to honour the squad\’s achievements.
After arriving in Oslo with a ceremonial water cannon salute, the team began a homecoming parade through the city.
Meanwhile, large crowds gathered outside the Royal Palace, where players met King Harald before greeting fans alongside Royal Guard members.
Furthermore, Norway captain Martin Odegaard thanked supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout the tournament.
“I don\’t think anyone had imagined this. The support we have received in the USA and here at home in Norway has been beyond all expectations,” Odegaard said.
Haaland missed the final celebrations after an early flight, and Berge left due to travel issues after the team\’s delayed US return.
The celebrations continued on an open-top bus traveling through central Oslo.
Consequently, massive crowds repeatedly slowed the parade, forcing police escorts to manage packed streets while fans cheered the players into the night.
Additionally, a light-hearted moment occurred when the bus paused due to low-hanging cables, requiring upper-deck players to sit before continuing.
Coach Stale Solbakken praised the overwhelming public support and said the team would cherish the reception after surpassing expectations.
Norway missed the last four, but the squad\’s World Cup run united the country and sparked optimism for football.
