Flour Price Cut Details

Flour mill owners in Karachi announced an Rs8 per kilogram cut in the ex‑mill wheat flour price. The cut offers relief to shoppers facing high food costs.

However, the decision came after talks with the Karachi administration. Furthermore, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi and Flour Mills Association representatives attended the talks. Therefore, they agreed on a price cut to ease the burden on households.

Under the new pricing, the ex‑mill price fell from Rs133 per kilogram to Rs125 per kilogram. Officials said the reduction takes effect immediately and will lower wholesale and retail prices across Karachi.

Consequently, authorities expect the lower rate to reach consumers through retailers. As a result, authorities expect the drop to stabilize the market and improve affordability. Meanwhile, the association also said it will set up fair‑price stalls selling flour at reduced rates. These stalls aim to give consumers direct access to affordable flour.

The development follows concerns over rising flour prices and tighter household budgets. Officials stressed that government‑industry cooperation is essential for price stability and uninterrupted supply.

Consumers welcomed the news, hoping for meaningful relief amid inflation and rising living costs. Market observers say strict monitoring will decide if the lower price reaches retail markets.
